At ENGEN they love it when a plan comes together! After months of planning, the team at ENGEN, in collaboration with The Learning Theatre, embarked on a 4-week road show across the country. In an effort to communicate their BIG 5 Values, ENGEN decided to use a 30-minute Industrial Theatre Intervention entitled The Dream. Starting in Cape Town, the cast of 6 entertained and delighted ENGEN audiences all over South Africa, returning to Johannesburg 4 weeks and 40 shows later!
The Dream tells the story of Joe, an average ENGEN employee, who knows about the values, but he just doesn’t get it…more importantly, he doesn’t believe it and he doesn’t live it. But real and riveting encounters with the values themselves brings Joe’s journey full circle until he finally understands what the values truly mean and how life changing it can be to actually live the values at work and at home! The Integrity Elephant, the Teamwork Buffalo, the Performance Leopard, the Ownership Lion and the Empowerment Rhino help Joe to realise his own potential within this great organisation.
The challenging yet humorous scenes from the pen of Ben Kruger had the ENGEN audiences shivering with fear and howling with laughter. They were shown their own everyday lives and during those 30 minutes they experienced the BIG 5 Values first hand.
The immense emotive learning this production brought to the hearts and minds of the employees in the audience once again shows the power of the play! The road show was then translated into French and Portuguese and filmed with different groups of actors so as to reach those ENGEN employees in other parts of Africa.
