CLIENT: ABSA

PRODUCTION NAME: Who killed the Customer?

TYPE OF THEATRE: Facilitated TheatreÒ

"The target audience was a body of 300 Top Executives of Absa. Not only did they script, rehearse and stage the play within the impossible deadline of four weeks, their technical care and all aspects of their work was of the highest quality.

The material we wanted to cover was highly conceptual, but they managed to translate and script it in a practical and humorous way. Feedback we have received from the audience was very good, to the extent that they requested a video to be made to be distributed to the rest of Absa."

CLIENT: ABSA – DELIVERY CHANNEL SERVICES

TYPE OF THEATRE: IMPROVISATION AND THEATRE SPORT

Absa Delivery Channel Services is currently busy with the translation of strategy for the next financial year 2004/5 into business plans. The approach followed is strategic conversation and through that taking strategy to the people. Big system workshops were planned in all the provinces with the theme "My contribution to our future". The Learning Theatre was asked to assist in making the strategy, the values of ABSA and the way we work a reality by visualising it for the people.

The workshops were a huge success and the Learning Theatre played a key role in achieving the success. The techniques used by them were powerful and really brought messages across like no other method would have.”

CLIENT: ESKOM - DISTRIBUTION GROUP/GEMINI CONSULTING

PRODUCTION NAME: VUSELELA

TYPE OF THEATRE: Industrial Theatre

"The Learning Theatre accommodated us in every respect, meeting very tight deadlines and pulling a crew and team together on very short notice. In the end, we conducted 50 very successful shows over a period of approximately 6 weeks."

"Our input was continuously taken into account during the process from script development to enhancing their performance from feedback received in earlier shows. The crew, team and performers used were very professional and versatile. The team met all schedule requirements timeously, were pleasant to work with and accommodated us wherever possible with changes that needed to be made."

"The biggest benefit for the company in conducting this exercise was the greater understanding we achieved amongst the lower band employees for the changes taking place within the organisation. An element of fun, humour and interaction was built into the performances, which made the learning experience enjoyable and memorable. The Learning Theatre managed to come to grips with the issues we faced and the message we needed to get across very quickly and produced a valuable theatre production that exceeded our expectations."

"It was an absolute pleasure to have the Learning Theatre perform at the opening of our conference. Besides the fact that your actors were well-rehearsed and very professional, the script and story line was well conceptualised and extremely entertaining.

I wish you all the very best with any new projects that come your way and will certainly not hesitate to use your company for any Industrial Theatre requirements that I might have in the near future."

CLIENT: GUINNESS UDV SA

PRODUCTION NAME: The Delicata Sanction

TYPE OF THEATRE: Facilitated TheatreÒ

"As you know, we wanted to bring across to our people the culture and behaviour change needed as we complete the journey to a new set of business processes and a new business system. We considered a number of options, including workshops, slide shows, motivational videos and conventional training sessions. When the concept of a live stage performance was raised, we were worried that the underlying cost and potential risk of not getting the message across would render the idea unattractive.

Our concerns were quickly allayed by the amount of effort made by you and your team to understand the essence of our business and the desired message to be communicated, and the meticulous rehearsing which preceded the performances.

The play was pitched at a level to which all staff could easily relate, yet the depth of content ensured that the learning objective was achieved with flying colours. The feedback we received after the show was that some of the senior people considered it to be amongst the most impactful learning experiences they had undergone in their working careers."

CLIENT: ISCOR

PRODUCTION NAME: Bricks for Africa & Ghost behind Flat Steel ("Spook agter Platstaal")

TYPE OF THEATRE: Facilitated TheatreÒ

"During August 2000 we approached The Learning Theatre Organisation for a Change Management intervention needed in our implementation of SAP 4.6 in Iscor Steel.

Although we have undertaken various communication activities to convey the reasons, benefits and impact of SAP, we felt it necessary to start working on the emotional level of all end-users. We wanted a highly visible, exciting and powerful intervention to demonstrate critical information as part of the preparation of end-users for the implementation of SAP.

We had 20 shows in two weeks at our Production site during which we reached 1100 end-users from all levels in the organisation. At Head office we had 4 shows reaching almost 300 employees. After each show the attendees evaluated the show. The evaluation questions were based on the objectives we had defined for this intervention. The majority rated this type of intervention as great fun and excellent learning. There was also a high correlation between the objectives we defined and what attendees experienced as the most important learning points from the show. From a project point of view one of the biggest benefits was stressing the importance of training and motivating the end-users to attend the training.

The Learning Theatre has proven that they successfully can integrate the creative energies of the Industrial Theatre concept with the sometimes complex and conceptual concepts of SAP to make it understandable to almost any type of audience."

CLIENT: Old Mutual Group Schemes

PRODUCTION NAME: Save for the Future

TYPE OF THEATRE: Industrial Theatre

"It's all over by the shouting" as the saying goes. And how apt this certainly is for Old Mutual Group Schemes Industrial Theatre 2001.

It was, for me, quite a sad occasion bidding you, Ben and the actors farewell in Kimberley last week at the end of over two months of travelling the whole country to spread he message of financial education.

And what a success these events have been for us. This is not my opinion only; it is what literally hundreds of clients have left behind as documented proof. Their quotes are heart-warming and testimony to the fact that we got it right. From the messages contained in the production through to the audience participation. Fantastic!

That's why I've got no doubt that we'll be repeating the exercise again next year, but on a far bigger scale and aimed at actual workplace level. It's what our clients have asked for ... in fact many of them want us to educate the whole country in this manner (what discounts are you offering?).

Please, again, pass my thanks on to Ben, Theo, Lindy, Patrick, Samson, Leon and Dirk. If it was in my power, it would be Oscars all around for the scripting, acting, support crew, logistics … you name it. A clean-sweep of awards for LTO!

I look forward to talking to you again soon and to a whopping 2002!

Wishing you everything of the best.

Yours sincerely

CLIENT: Liberty

PRODUCTION NAME: Oscar Night at the Planet

TYPE OF THEATRE: Corporate Theatre

I would like to thank you for the outstanding service The Learning Theatre has provided to Liberty. I have dealt with many excellent service providers in the past, but you have certainly set a new benchmark.

The production you did for us, was well written, produced and directed and all 3200 Liberty employees whom attended the shows can testify to that. The objectives set in the beginning were all achieved and it will be much easier to implement our B cubed vision (Best people, doing the best things, best) now that everyone understands the basic philosophies and principles.

Our Group CEO, Roy Andersen, also expressed his satisfaction with the launch and was complimentary about your ability to get the message across in a clear, understandable but entertaining manner. Personally, I enjoyed the disciplined and organised manner in which you managed the project, never once missing a deadline and constantly keeping me informed.

I am looking forward to the possibility of working with you in the near future.

Stor Tech

I would sincerely like to thank Ben & Lurinda from the Learning Theatre Organisation as well as director, Juliette Jenner, and the cast for our show at the Kayalami Theatre on the Track on Tuesday 23 October 2007.

It went down EXTREMELY well with our clients and was very well received. The message came through very clearly which is a result of good scriptwriting, good acting and good directing.

One of our clients actually came to tell me that it’s the best industrial theatre he’s ever seen. He said he’s always tried to stay clear of these things because he’s never found the one’s he’s seen all that good – WHAT A COMPLIMENT TO YOU ALL.

Without you all, our event would not have been the success it was – thank you so much to you all!

Regards,

Clare Knowles
